Near Lincoln Center, the acclaimed “Fame” school immortalized by a movie and Broadway show draws college-bound teens highly talented in the arts. Students take four periods a day in a specialty: visual art, vocal and instrumental music, dance, drama or technical theater. Last season’s student productions included eight sold-out shows of “In the Heights,” performances of “Sweeney Todd,” “Carousel,” “The Laramie Project,” seven gallery exhibits, dance performances and 28 concerts.

“The school is bustling with creative energy and artistic passion,” says  Principal Lisa Mars. The class of 2015 included a Presidential Scholar in the Arts and four Young Arts finalists. Instructors include pros from the Philharmonic and Metropolitan Opera.

Many famous alums include Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Aniston, Adrien Brody and Robert De Niro.
